To the Carolina Friends of the Foreign Service Luncheon
Wednesday, 16 January 2019 at 11:30 A.M.
University Club, 3100 Tower Blvd. 17th Floor, Durham, NC 27707

Members of the Carolina Friends of the Foreign Service and their guests are invited to the winter 2019 CFFS Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 16 January. The venue for this lunch once again is the University Club located off US 15/501 BR, just north of the overpass connecting US 15/501 to I-85. As usual, we will gather for the social period at 11:30, moving to our tables at noon.

Speaker and Topic: Our speaker will be Pape Gaye, president and CEO of IntraHealth International, who will provide “An Overview of IntraHealth International”.

Speaker’s Bio: Pape Gaye is a native of Senegal and a lifelong advocate for health workers, strong health systems, and access to health care for all.
Under his leadership as president and CEO of IntraHealth International, the organization has made human resources for health a crucial part of the worldwide conversation on global health. Gaye draws on three decades of leadership in international health and development as he forges strong collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders–from ministries of health to private-sector partners to local health workers–to strengthen health workforces and health systems.
Gaye is a frequent international speaker on issues related to capacity-building, primary health care and the global health workforce and his editorials appear regularly in HuffPost, Devex, and other media outlets.
Gaye began his career with the US Peace Corps and went on to work with the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Committee and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Before his appointment as CEO at IntraHealth, he led the organization’s regional office for West, Central, and North Africa.
Gaye holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles. His board and advisory services include the Center for African Family Studies, Duke University’s Global Health Institute, Financing for Development, Gillings Global Gateway at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, InterAction, Nourish International, the Reproductive Health NGO CEO Working Group, the Triangle Global Health Consortium, and Speak Up Africa.

Reservations: The cost of the luncheon is $30 which includes coffee or tea, green salad, entrée, and a dessert. A cash bar will be available. The entrée choices are:
2)  Pan seared salmon with angel hair pasta, broccoli, and lemon caper sauce; and
3)  Butternut squash with wilted local greens and tomato oculista (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free).
Please indicate your entrée choice(s) when you make your reservation.

Dues Reminder: If you haven’t done so yet, you may include your 2019 dues, still only $10 a person (life members are exempt), along with your luncheon payment.

Please make checks payable to Treasurer, CFFS and mail them to Gregory Flood, 1015 Fearrington Post, Pittsboro, NC 27312.  Checks must be received no later than Friday, 11 January.

We look forward to seeing you on 16 January.
