Members of the Carolina Friends of the Foreign Service and their guests are invited to the upcoming CFFS Lunch at 11:30am on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The venue for the lunch is the University Club located off US 15/501 just north of the overpass connecting US 15/501 to I-85.  As usual, we will gather for the social period at 11:30, moving to our tables around noon.

Our speaker is Stephanie Hutchison the Diplomat in Residence for the Mid-Atlantic Region, covering North Carolina and Virginia

Prior to assuming her role as Diplomat in Residence, she served as the Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Accra, Ghana, advancing bilateral trade and investment ties and working to improve the business climate for U.S. companies. 

Stephanie has also worked in the Economic Sections of the U.S. Embassies in Lisbon, Portugal and Rabat, Morocco. Her focus in these countries was largely on energy, climate, and ICT issues. During a two-year tour at the State Department in Washington, D.C, she covered U.S.- Turkish economic relations in the Office of Southern European Affairs. 

The topic of her presentation is:  Recruiting the Next Generation of Diplomats

 

The lunch will be buffet-style, and the cost of the lunch is $35.  It will include a variety of options including vegetarian dishes.  A cash bar is also available.
